The Mendelssohn Remise at Gendarmenmarkt

This history workshop and events venue located in the former head office of Mendelssohn Co. hosts a permanent exhibition on the Mendelssohn bankers and their Friedrichstadt neigborhood, with smaller, digressive exhibits on The Religion of the Mendelssohns and The Contrasting World of Leipziger Strasse 3, i.e. the life of the Mendelssohn Bartholdy family as it played out in the Reck’sche Palais.

Museum Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in the Villa Oppenheim: Villa Sorgenfrei.

Permanent exhibition: The history of the Villa Oppenheim in Charlottenburg and its residents, i.e. the Alexander Mendelssohn family, who made this imposing residence their “Villa Carefree,” their descendants from the Oppenheim und Warschauer banking and business families, as well as the painter Josef Block, who married into the clan.

Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin on Potsdamer Strasse: The Mendelssohn Room.

The Staatsbibliothek library, whose Mendelssohn Archive contains the largest collection of records on the Mendelssohn family and its composers, presents a rotating exhibition of paintings and documents in the reading room of the Scharoun Building.

The Dreifaltigkeitsfriedhof cemetery in Kreuzberg: The Mendelssohn Family and their Graves in the Cemetery at Hallesches Tor.

Permanent exhibition on the Mendelssohn family in a former chapel of the cemetery complex where 28 descendants of Moses Mendelssohn and their life partners are interred.
